If you drive past St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Trappe PA on summer Wednesdays, you’ve been greeted by the Wednesday Wavers.
The Wednesday Wavers began over 7 years ago as an outreach to the community. We hold signs that say, “God loves you, St. Luke’s loves you too” as we smile and wave to those driving by our church on Wednesday mornings.
We wave between 7 am and 7:30 am from Memorial Day to the Wednesday after Labor Day– rain or shine. Over the years those driving by have smiled, waved, honked – and one van of workers even opens its windows and doors to wave and yell a greeting as well.
We have received coffee, donuts, notes, and emails of appreciation from people who sometimes go out of their way on Wednesday mornings just to start their day on an “up note!”
